As mentioned in the story section of our site the hero is suffering from malaria. The creative director, Clint Hocking reveals that the player will find again and again new medicine throughout the game to fight the virus, which makes the character more resistant and strengthen him. However if you can't manage to medicate it timely, things can change quickly.
Without medicine the character may turn into an ugly, grotesque, but notorious being. Malaria will be fully unfold and will influences your appearance.
Clint Hocking imploringly stresses, however, that you do not have to expect any surprises like aliens in Far Cry and now also in Crysis.
